How can you transfer from Active Army to the Army National Guard?

Carry: How can my husband transfer from Active Army to the Army National Guard?
My husband is currently in AIT now and will be graduating July 22nd. He is going to be stationed in Fort Hood, Tx. Is there anyway he can transfer from Active Duty Army to the Army National Guard?

Yeah he can finish the active portion of his contract.

There is no way I am aware of that a person at the point your husband is at can transfer to the NG.

His only option is to serve out his contract and then switch. Why do you want him to go Guard? You do realize the Guard is a one weekend a month deal and will not cover the bills.
