: What bank allows teens under 18 to open a account without a parent?
Okay so my mom is out of the picture and my dad has some bills he has to pay back from his old business. I tried to open an account with him but because of the bills he is unable to open an account a till they are paid back. I have a job that i must have an account for my pay checks. Do you guys know any banks that allow teens to open an account by them self???

None. The Patriot Act requires all individual account openings to be made by someone over age 18 with proper i.d. Your Dad will have to open a custodial account for you.
You can ask your HR department if they offer payroll debit cards. Many larger employers offer debit cards for employees that do not have checking accounts.
Answer by Leslie KUnfortunately the other person is right. If you are not an emancipated minor (someone the courts have said can be declared a legal adult) you cannot open a bank account without another adult.
Perhaps you have an aunt or uncle that could step up you get a joint account with them? All you need is to have an adult on the account with you listed as a secondary person.
