What are the steps to becoming a pharmacist?

Bow Down to the Puppy: Steps to becoming a pharmacist?
Ok, please DO NOT give me a website that gives steps to becoming a pharmacist (like ehow, for example). I find those to be too broad and confusing. I’m also going to ask my guidance counselor at school about becoming a pharmacist, but right now, we’re on spring break and I want to get some background knowledge before assigning a meeting with her.

Anyway, right now, I’m a 10th grader in Wisconsin and I want to be a pharmacist. I’m getting involved in extra-curriculars and taking advanced classes so as to look good for colleges. I have a couple of questions though…

What colleges should I look at for becoming a pharmacist? I know there’s like undergrad, bachelors, etc, it’s just I don’t know what any of those mean.

Are there any classes that I should take in high school to become a pharmacist? So far, I’m in AP Chemistry. I’m also planning to take AP Physics (there’s a class that prepares you for all three of the AP Physics exams), AP Psychology, Medical Terminalogy, Advanced Biology (we don’t have an AP Biology class), both AP Calculus classes, AP Stats, and as many AP social studies and language classes that I can fit in (and spanish). There is an Advanced Anatomy and Physiology, but I don’t know I can fit it in my schedule.

Do I need to take the SAT or ACT tests to become a pharmacist?

Is there anyingthing that I should do/take before applying to a college?

Are their different kinds of pharmacists?

After I graduate out of college, how do I get a pharmacist job? Do I apply for one, or do they come and search for me?

Are their any tests that I need to take in high school/college to become a pharmacist?

Anything else I need to know?

Please try to incorporate these questions into the steps. I know it’s a lot of work, but please help me! Thanks
Here’s my high school schedule that I plan to take junior and senior year:

Junior:
AP Calc AB
AP Language
AP Physics (all three physics exams)
AP Psychology
Lunch
Spanish 4
Personal Financial Literature (mandatory half semester class) / Medical Terminalogy (half semester class)
Adv. Biology

Senior
AP Calc BC
AP Literature
AP Stats
AP Econ (half semester) / AP Gov (half semester)
Lunch
Spanish 5
AP World
Study Hall

Do you think this schedule is too tough? What are your opinions?

1. List of pharmacy schools in the US. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pharmacy_schools#United_States_of_America

Undergrad and Bachelors are the same thing. To get into pharmacy school, some require that you must complete a Bachelors degree while others only require that you complete 2 years of it.

This degree can be in any field as long as you take the required college prerequisites for admission into pharmacy school.

Prerequisite courses most schools require include:

One year of general chemistry with labs
One year of organic chemistry with labs
One year of general physics with labs
One year of general biology with labs
One semester to one year of calculus
One year of English (composition and/or writing)
One semester of economics
One semester of psychology or sociology
One semester public speaking
In addition, some schools require biochemistry, microbiology and statistics coursework. You will need to check with each school in which you are interested to find out what specific academic requirements it has.

2. Take all the science, english and math classes that you can in high school.

3. No, you need to take the PCAT in college to apply to Pharmacy school.

4.No

5. No, they work in different locations (hospitals, private pharmacies etc) but they perform the same duties.

6. You need to apply for jobs regardless of whatever degree you choose. Noone, is going to come searching for you.

7. No.

Pharmacy schools do not look at your high school grades.
