soon.2.b.mrs.phillips: How can I make my sister’s baby shower special?
I am planning a baby shower for my sister. It’s her and her fiance’ first child and he is in the Navy so he hasn’t been here through the first 5 months and probably won’t be here for the rest of the pregnancy. I want to make sure this is something she won’t forget. They are both HUGE Tennessee Vols fans and they are having a little girl so I wanted to incorporate that somehow.

Maybe see if you can get her fiance to video tape himself sending a special message to the mom-to-be. Then you can show it at the shower…it’ll make her feel like he’s sharing her joy.
See if you can’t find child-sized pom-poms in their colors, and maybe even get the cake shaped like a cheerleader. You can use the colors and a pink ribbon to tie favors…And make sure you have tons of balloons!!!
Answer by Jana MIf you like scrap-booking or being creative, I would say that you should make her invitations by hand and also her thank you notes for her to match. Maybe do it in the Vols colors or a Vols theme that fits them. If you are wanting this to be super special, you need to put your personal touch on some things. Make sure the place is memorable, the flowers are her favorite, colors and invite all the people she wants (make her make you a list.) You will be fine, just stick with the things that she loves and put your personal touch on it and you can’t go wrong. Let me know if you need any other help.
Good luck!!
Answer by diapercakesbybeccaOrange and White, of course, is the way you want to go. I agree with the other poster….try to get daddy to videotape his wishes and love for momma and the new baby. Have that to play at the shower, make it a surprise even!
This is a newborn set, on clearance, form the U of T’s webpage store: Get this, maybe, and have it on display during the shower.
Get a custom diaper cake made for the big day. Once again, orange and white. I make these….and if I got a commission like this I would incorporate Orange/Shite Pom Poms, a plush football, that great ribbon, Great baby goodies, too!
I wouldn’t think it would be too hard to find orange cardstock this month (Halloween and all). Buy some and make your own custom invites in the Vol colors. You could maybe gift the mom some official Thank You cards from the site, too:
Hope this helped!! I have some great BabyShower Planning ideas on my site, too. Feel free to browse around that!
