Cherry Choclate Kisses: What are some reasons that dance is not a sport?
I’m doing a debate in school and I need TONS of reasons with evidence that support the fact that dance is NOT a sport. It’s a performing art. But, if you do think dance is a sport, state why you think so. Not because it’s “hard”. I know it’s hard, but just because you give a lot of physical exertion into something, it doesn’t make it a sport. Give evidence for your reasoning please.

…dance isn’t a “sport” because the scoring of it is purely subjective to the opinions of a judge. The exact same routine can be scored high or low (by the same judge) depending on that person’s whim.
Dance can be play alone but sport can not play alone. Therefore dance can not be sportAnswer by AZ All Star Cheerleader
It is not a sport because it is a recreation. a sport is defined as an activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. Sports commonly refer to activities where the physical capabilities of the competitor are the sole or primary determiner of the outcome (winning or losing.) Dancers (or at least the ones i know…i may be wrong on this) do not compete, therefore dance is not a sport. Dance is not governed by a set of rulles and their capabilities do not affect any outcome. so it may be “hard” but technically, it is not a sportAnswer by Gymnast101
I support that dancing is a sport. the only reason people think it isn’t is because you can do it any time you want to, like dancing to the radio! And it doesn’t have rules or requirements.
