: What does it mean if your professor sent you an invite to LinkedIn?
So…I recently sent an email to him saying that his lectures inspire me, and today he sent me an invite (thru school email) to join his network on LinkedIn? what is that?

Its a business-related social networking site
It’s a professional networking site that anyone planning to enter the workforce should learn how to use. One thing that never seems to be addressed in college is the importance of professional networking, or in layman’s terms, keeping in touch with people who can one day help you get a job, be a business contact, or be a valuable resource in your field. LinkedIn can help with that, assuming you use it correctly. Keep in mind, LinkedIn is not a social networking site like Facebook. It is not the place to post crazy pictures, random status updates about how you love ham sandwiches, or to make friends. It’s work-related, so if you sign up for it, keep your information and pictures professional.
