A diver running 1.4 m/s dives out horizontally from the edge of a vertical cliff and reaches the water below 2.7 s later. How high was the cliff and how far from its base did the diver hit the water?

First, the height:
s = ½at² = ½•9.8m/s²•(2.7s)² = 35.7m
Now the distance:
s = v•t = 1.4m/s • 2.7s = 3.8 m
