Hi there. My birthday is in a few days and I want a pet. I have a dog which is getting old and lazy and a hamster. But I want another pet. I want to get a Firebelly Toad but my mom won’t let me get one. Btw, would it be okay around my dog? So my mom won’t let me get a bird also. I do NOT want a snake or a ferret or a bunny or hermit crab. Does anybody know what other animals Petco or Petsmart sell that are affordable?! PLEASE HELP!

wow….umm focus on the animals you have now. you dont need anymore then that.
You shouldn’t get a firebelly toad with a dog around. If the toad gets loose and the dog eats it. The dog will die. Plus it can burn your skin, if you don’t wash your hands after you hold it.Answer by Dennis K
I recommend a bunny a gerbil or a robo hamster (because they aren’t very expensive)Answer by Kristen M

Have you thought about a rat?
Male rats are easy to keep (an aquarium works best..they get to big for habittrails)…The females are more restless and bitey! Male rats are personable and learn their names. They love to be messed with..unlike your hamster. Get one that is young though.
Once you’ve had a rat…you will want one again and again.Answer by weallscream4icecream
Have you thought about something like a lizard or a turtle? Those are pretty easy pets to take care of, and unless you get the kinds that are high maintenance that have been imported from Argentina or whatever, they come pretty inexpensively. If you don’t want a reptile, then consider a rat or a gerbil. Those are a lot like hamsters, but they’re pretty cool, too. and don’t get a firebelly toad while your dog is around. If your dog eats it(which is actually pretty likely), then it will die :(. And you have a good chance of getting some kind of an illness if you forget to wash your hands after you’ve been picking it up and holding it.
Hope that helps!
