REGINAMIA: How can Paypal take money from my bank account without authorization?
I did not make any purchase. I do not keep a balance at Paypal; I made it clear when I signed on that I want to be able to authorize any payments. Paypal deducted funds from my personal bank account, acknowledged its mistake, did not refund the money, but deducted more!
What recourse do I have? They have sent about 15 emails saying that they are dealing with the situation, but it is clear these are form letters that have no real understanding of the situation.

What I would suggest is that you call PayPal Customer Service at 1-888-221-1161. You can also find the phone number for PayPal Customer by logging into your PayPal account and then click on the “Help” link at the top of each PayPal page. From there click the “Contact Us” link at the bottom right. Then click on “Call Us” link under the “Speak to us” heading. The same telephone number that I provided to you above will be shown to you on this page.
Sounds like to me PayPal is being a D–I– C–K. If you feel you have exhausted all efforts to recover your money, call your bank and tell this this: “I want to file a claim for an unauthorized debit to my bank account”. Your bank should provide you with an affidavit that you will need to sign, date and either mail or fax back to them. Your bank will investigate the matter and 99% chance your monies will be returned back to your bank account. Some banks do however have deadlines. Some you need to report the matter within 30 days, others 60 days, and others 90 days. Be sure to do this ASAP.
Good luck. If you need any assistance feel free to let me know.
