Sharon: Why does my dog have an obession with panties?
She is a 4 month old basset hound mix and every chance she gets, she is getting boxers and panties… how can I make this stop?

What can I say, they’re fun to chew. Lock them up in a drawer when not in use, out of her reach.

This may sound really gross, but dogs are attracted to their owner’s scent. A lot of dogs have a sock obsession.

LOL……..dogs seem to like to take and chew on, play with, sleep on, or hide items of their owners. It smells like you, so they want it. Keep things put up in the proper areas. The stage will pass sooner or later.

She likes them so much because they have a heavy concentration of her family’s scent on them. It’s a pretty difficult habit to break, easiest way is to remove temptation from her, just keep them in a container she can’t get in to.

well if you wash your privates better, the stench wont reek on them, and he wont be tempted to engorge them to take the smell out of the air. Its a dog eat dog world

If they have been worn, they carry the scent of her owners, and she will grab them as a substitute for the real thing when the owners can’t play with her.

Best bet, keep them in a hamper or in a room that she cannot get into. If she does grab a pair and you are home, a good firm “no” and a command to “drop it”. At this same time, until she learns what drop it means, take the panties away from her, then praise her for giving them up and give her a toy of her own to play with.

Your dog is OBVIOUSLY a cross-dressing pooch! There’s really nothing that you can do except accept it. It’s what she is.
