: What Maths skills are needed to be an occupational therapist?
Have to write a paper about the field for my pre-calc class. My teacher was like “Oh yeah, Lots of math there.” But really, every thing I’ve seen has been along the lines of “I only required one maths class in college to get the degree” This is supposed to comprise about three pages of my paper and I’ve got nothing. Help is appreciated. Thank you.

I can’t really find anything that would go with a pre-calc class but here’s the wikipedia explanation of what occupational therapy is:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupational_therapy
which may give you some ideas.
The things I can think of that would be math related are:
Task analysis – how many of the tasks in the break down can the person do – how efficiently
Goal setting – if you’ve got multiple goals to get to 1 thing (e.g. being able to go back to work) then you’d need basic addition to work out that goal a+goal b+ goal c will take x time to reach the main goal.
You may also need to work out what angles people can do tasks most efficiently at or the range of motion a person has for the task.
That’s about all I can think of.
It may be worth asking your teacher what maths skills he thinks are involved as you’re probably not the only one having trouble. He could be confusing the services provided by the OT with the equipment they recommend to people which would be designed by an engineer under their guidance – e.g the patient needs x range of recline on a chair or y angle on a spoon to feed themselves independently.
