Jesse: What to major in to become a criminal investigator?
I know my school has a criminal justice major, but I don’t want to limit my job opportunities later in life by picking that major.
Would it be okay to major in psychology or sociology and minor in criminal justice?

Yes.
BTW most federal agencies, or other agencies that require a degree do not care what your major was. Both of these, as well as numerous other degrees, will benefit you in a law enforcement career. I would suggest SOME criminal justice classes and maybe a minor in criminal justice, especially courses like Constitutional Law.
I majored in criminal justice (cj), got a masters in management, and a PhD in cj. I recommend that you major in psych and minor in cj. Any bachelors degree is acceptable for federal investigative agencies, GPA, work experience, and graduate degrees are what determine who gets hired.
