Wonder Woman: Lowe’s using “family trees” in their ads instead of “Christmas trees”…what do you think?
I think its sad …
In an effort to avoid the use of the term “Christmas tree,” Lowe’s has renamed their Christmas trees and are now calling them “Family trees.”
In their Holiday 2007 catalog, containing 56 pages of Christmas gifts, Lowe’s advertises hundreds of gift items, including scores of “Family trees.” In fact, the word “Christmas” only appears two times in the entire holiday catalog. The ads mentioning “Christmas cover only 12 square inches of the 5236 square inches available.
Lowe’s even has one of their Family trees turned upside down on a stand. We are not sure what the significance of that is.
Lowe’s evidently did not want to offend any non-Christians, therefore they replaced “Christmas tree” with “Family tree.” Of course, if Christians are offended that is evidently ok.

Yea, i always thought that christmas tree was a traditional name and everyone who really cared about the tree in holidays did celebrate christmas…hmm…if people get offended by “christmas”, why not shut the book and walk away?
I think that’s stupid. It’s like saying “christmas trees” will offend non-christians. Heck, I’m an ATHEIST and I call it a christmas tree!
I hope that once Dubya and his minions are gone, we can recover our sanity and get rid of political correctness once and for all.
P.S. The “upside down” christmas tree is a space-saving tree. You can actually hang them from your ceiling. Frankly, if I live in a place too small for a big tree, I get a smaller tree.

YES THANK YOU FOR NOTICING! Why don’t they go grabbing other religions holiday symbols and changing their name?? Idiots….Answer by why
I think Lowe’s just lost a customer and this customer’s family as well. They can keep their family trees. Give me and mine a Christmas tree and keep Christ in Christmas while you’re at it. :o)Answer by winter_spice78
As I said in another post, this is a total crock and the product of someone with way too much time on their hands. They obviously missed the memo that not everyone gets upset over the same things they do.
Most people with a brain know that a family tree is a map of how you are related to your family. It is ludicrous to call it a family tree or a holiday tree or whatever when Christmas and Yule are the only winter holidays that have a tree as one of their symbols. The other religious holidays, Hanukkah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa, etc don’t use trees. So it is beyond ridiculous to get this up in arms over offending anyone, especially when you become stupid beyond the point of no return. Obviously the marketing team at Lowe’s was too poor to pay attention and actually research the holidays they claim they are trying to appease, in which case they would realize this is utterly insane, to put it lightly, and absolutely unnecessary.
For what it’s worth, I’ve never set foot in Lowe’s and I certainly won’t after this. And it has nothing to do with religious vs nonreligious Christmas celebrations either.
Answer by buckeyefever7I think it sucks….on my calendar it says CHRISTMAS not Family……my Christmas is about , God, Family and Friends.
I don’t get it, don’t understand why they try so much to get the “Non Christians” not to be upset with them……..what about me. I love Christmas and GOD
Answer by aries_angel_21Wow, I was unaware of this! I don’t go to Lowe’s very often nor do I look at their catalogs, but that is crazy! I don’t like that! I mean think about what the term Christmas means and where it came from…disrespectful in my eyes…
