Brian: How does literature help us become more well-rounded people?
Well for my English Honors class, I need to write a 2-3 page essay, the topic being, does literature help us become well-rounded people? I chose yes, and now i need to make a few references to To Kill a Mockingbird to support my argument. Can anybody help me? I’m not trying to plagarize here, so please don’t criticise me for this.

Well I’ll try to deal with this one in the context of TKAM…
1. Literature makes us more empathetic (helps us to understand how others feel).
2. It raises our level of social awareness (in TKAM, racism among other things).
3. No matter our age, quality literature keeps us young.
4. It teaches us about morality.
5. It takes us to another place (for example, the south).
In short, it humanizes us.
I hope that helps!
