aborockstar: What is the difference between a annual exam and a postpartum exam?
I missed my postpartum exam due to insurance issues and now the doctor told me to come in for an annual instead and I was wondering if there was much difference?

the postpartum exam generally is done to see how you are healing and to make sure those issues related to birthing a baby are checking out okay. The annual is to check those same parts anyway plus a pap smear.

Nope, same thing. With the post partum exam, the doctor checks to make sure everything has gone back to where it should be.
Not really that much of a difference. It’s a vaginal exam. Postpartum is a check up to make sure everything is healing okay after giving birth. An annual exam consists of having a pap smear done to check for things like cervical cancer or abnormal cells on the cervix. It’s pretty much the same thing when it comes down to it. The doctor can probably check for everything postpartum at the same time he checks everything else during your yearly pap smear.
