zachhot: Is it possible to jump start a car without turning the healthy car on?
Friend of mine claimed he jump started my car, however he didn’t start his car at all. He only tried to start my car and when it didn’t start, he said he just jumped it, and it won’t work. The cables were connected and everything, he just never started his car. Claimed it work break all the electric components of his car?

Your car would really drawn down his battery, so that’s why it should be running. There would be no damage if the jumpers are correctly connected. One of these could be why it didn’t start.
You can do it with no problems. It will not hurt anything, but you run more of a risk of draining the battery you are jumping from.Answer by Mattsmopar
Running vehicle + jumper cables connected to running vehicles battery on one end—-and the other end of the cables should be hooked to the dead battery.
Let it sit about 5 minutes
rev running car to about 3,000 rpm (brings alternator amperage up) and try to start the car with the dead battery.
Answer by KC2UOZYour friend is retarded. You need to start the healthy car to get the juice running thru the cables to the dead battery. That is the only way to start it.Answer by mdk68gto, ase certified m tech
he is a fool but it is possible as long as the weak battery is only weak and not DEAD. if he was to start his and let it run connected for about 5-10 minutes, that could charge yours up enough for your battery to crank it over. the biggest things to remember it that the cars dont touch each other, connect both cables on the good car isolating both cables from each other, then connect the positive to the battery on the dead cars battery, then connect the last cable to the engine block on the dead car. after that start it up and let it idle like that for 10 minutes like i said before.
