Paranormal Kitty: Is it fair for apartments to charge a fee for pets when they charge none for children?
From what I’ve seen, small children tear up a lot more than pets. Pets don’t have crayons, paints, markers, or hands with which to throw their food. They also seem to be easier to potty train than children.
Oh, and before you mention fleas, let me remind you that children bring home LICE, which are not only harder to get rid of than fleas, but will also take up residence in human hair.
Lol, great point, vegansforever! Maybe children should be limited to children’s stores since pets are limited to pet supply stores?

Well, its sad for you, but I never heard any landlord asking for more rent because of pet… They just give or not the permission to have one…
I am not living in the US, so my case is different… Animal pelt help us to warm ourself during cold winters 🙂 (joking)

Agreed. It doesn’t seem fair. What’s worse is when they require a pet deposit PER pet T-T

I totally agree with you on this. I would even go as far as to say – why can’t we take our dog with us to the store when they are better behaved than most children?

Yes, I think it’s VERY unfair. Children are much more destructive than pets. It’s also my experience that they are much more disruptive to other tenants. It’s nice to see someone who agrees with me. 🙂

THANK YOU!!! I pay $ 20 a month for my two!!
Plus the $ 1,000 deposit! Arghh. It should be against the law- discrimination!!
They can do anything they want. It’s your choice to pay or not pay it.
Most children don’t have to have a license either.. just a thought.Answer by orionmobile
I have long said I would prefer places that allow pets but ban children rather than places that allow children but ban pets. Pets are not nearly as annoying. Of course, children are that way because bad parents let them get away with it. I strongly agree that it makes more sense to have a fee for children than for pets in rentals, and it also makes more sense to have rentals that ban children rather than pets. As for the licensing issue…it’s very sad that so many places require you to get a license to own a pet, but anyone is allowed to reproduce whether they take care of their offspring or not.Answer by alamahara
Your lucky that wherever you live they just charge a fee. I have been looking for an apartment for months and NONE of them take pets…PERIOD! I don’t know what kind of horrible and disgusting people live in my area but obviously they do not care for their pets properly and is why landlords are not accepting them.
I don’t know how you let your children behave…my child is 5 and has never been destructive at all. I guess it all depends on the parents.
Answer by A girl named SamI know. Like what vegansforever said, people enjoy petting other people’s pets like dogs or something when they bring them into petsmart. BUT we do NOT appreciate the screaming kids.
