you’ve got to do what you have to do.
Take what you can, better than sitting on your butt earning no money at all.
As soon as something better comes along, quit.
Answer by lomaja_3672Its not embarrassing. You have a job! Your willing to work in a job that you didn’t really want but needed. It just proves that your a grown up.Answer by PimpW/OaDogW/OaBone
Is it embarrassing to get a paycheck? It might seem out of place to work there, but there’s absolutely no reason you should consider it as embarrassing, especially in times like this. If you DO get embarrassed, then just hang onto it until you can get hired at one of the other places. Income is income, no?Answer by Joe H
You should not feel embarrassed, it work. We all have to work … do what you have to do to survive. Don’t let your pride get the best of you. Hold you head up high and do what you gotta put money in your pockets.Answer by Michael H
What are you planning to do long term? Are there prospects for you in this place?
If you feel embarrassed, then i think it is a good sign that you don’t feel comfortable where you are. Obviously its fine, you are earning money and you need to do what can to earn money. But maybe you should use this as motivation to try and find something else, or do some more training to try and get a job you really want.
But don;t feel bad. Some places like McDonalds are actually very good places to work, you do get the chance to move up the ladder.

No it is fine to work at fast food places no matter what age you are.Answer by mommyoftwo53
The people who judge people working at fast food are not looking at a 23 year old and asking why you work there (especially since many college students work in fast food places as its part-time) those people are looking at 40 year olds and asking why they work there.
However, don’t care what other people think. You need a job & you can get a job at a fast-food place right now so thats all that matters.

A job’s a job right? Unfortunately, not everyone loves – or even likes – their job. I wouldn’t have any shame in working at a fast food restaurant if I were you because:
a) – At least you’re willing to do what it takes. It’s better to swallow your pride than to sit around home doing nothing at all.
b) – You can still look for other opportunities. Potential employers will respond more to you if you’re currently working, anyway. It might take serveral months to find something else but at least you’d be making an icome in the meantime.
Answer by BogeyThat’s just false pride. Don’t think a thing of it. You’re making an honest paycheck just like anyone else should, instead of getting it from your parents or anywhere else. Everyone knows those jobs aren’t your permanent employment, but simply a stepping stone…and some darn good training while you’re at it. Not everyone qualifies for that work, and it’s more involved that most think.
If you look around, you’ll see plenty of 30 and 40-year-olds working fast food. It’s not a shameful place to work at all.
Answer by MXNo why would it be embarrassing your making an honest living embarrassing would be being 23 and playing video games all day “till you find the right job” screw it and if people talk smack or make fun of you blow it off at the end of the day its a job and in this economy a job is a job.Answer by Alicia P
IS it embarrassing? I dont know, thats up to you. I would be. You can find a better job than that right? Although, one who works for a living is much better than someone who does not and mooches off of others or the gvt. It just reveals how that person is living and the choices they make.Answer by jungleempress
no honey you did not offend me please do not feel embarrassed, remember mcd also hires senior citizens below 70, often times the customers relate better to older wait staff than they do to a teenagerAnswer by Freakgirl
