dee: Is it bad to share a drink with my parrot?
Sometimes, when I drink a glass of water or juice, my lovebird drinks from the glass too. And sometimes I get too lazy to get another glass so I just finish the drink even after my lovebird has drunk from it. Is this harmful to me or my parrot?
I never let my lovebird drink milk or alcohol because I know it’s bad for lovebirds.

I see no problem with that. I’ve always shared with my birds, rats and mice, but not with my dogs and cats.
If nothing’s happened yet you’re probably alright, but do think about the fact that you don’t know where they’ve put their beak, and clean their feathers with it. It might not be worth risking either of you getting sick, especially if you were carrying a cold or something that hadn’t showed symptoms yet (you can be contagious without symptoms in many common illnesses).Answer by Lotrfan9
Birds are relatively clean animals when kept in a cage as they enjoy preening themselves and when tame, taking bathes, it cant do anything good for your bird or you as your going to be sharing germs and the small amount you may consume probably wont do anything to you, the germs in your mouth may be completely different than what your birds immune system fights off at times. Really cant give a definitive answer but that’s my 50 cents >.<Answer by Budgie Momma
We’re more toxic to the bird than the bird is to us. Let him drink first or not at all (I do let my male budgie drink from my glass not to drink but to taste). If you only let him have water and a little apple or orange juice I think it’s fine. I don’t let mine ‘drink’ just a little taste.Answer by Donna O
There’s probably more that we have that would harm them than the other way round that could be transmitted this way. The human mouth is basically a minefield of bacteria, so I wouldn’t make a habit of letting him do it, but I know how hard it is to keep them out of whatever you have. Just don’t encourage it….
