pokeyloveshard: infected home-tattoo—–no haters please?
i got a tattoo of a heart recently on my left knee..my husband did it- he is an experienced amatuer tattooer so dont start about it being unproffessional please. but i wanted a tattoo od a star on my right knee,,so he did the outline for me,then i had to go to the store, and when i got back he was in the shower, and im learning to tattoo, im more the artist now, but i decided to get some practice with it, (im supposed to be giving him one soon, and i need practice) but i did the shading and whatnot, coloring, but i think i bumped the needle or somethign and it messed up how he set it, and the top of the skin kinda got tore up ๐ but i messed up after that when i realized i had used the last of the lotion, we didnt haver any,so i used vaseline, well…not a good idea..the top of it got really soft and mushy, and i have since got lotion to put on it, but it was pussing a little bit, and part of it came off when the sheet stuck to it in my sleep.i think its infected. how should i treat it

awh. its cute tho….
you might need to go to your dr to treat it…tatts are serious skin injuries and should be treated immediatly when infected.
oh and for the record…i am not against tatts, i have three. I am against infection though.
Answer by i luv caleb. im sooo sorryhi my brother is a tattoo artist and he told me how to treat your problem. he said to first leave the sheet to it. you need to get as much of the infected skin off as possible, soon enough take peroxide and pour the inflicted area and yes, this may burn because you are showing several new layers of skin but in time it will be worth it. you will want to do this regimine for ver a month to be exactly sure then in time when you feel you are ready have a professional artist (besides you, because someone will need to really need to detail out the tattooin which you can not because it is already hard enough to give one self a tattoo) and make sure they are aware of what happened and they will tell you what is to be done from then on.Answer by Anji Loves
try going to the store and seeing if they have a strong anti-bacterial for tattoos…sometimes they do but if they don’t you might have to go to a pro tattoo artist to see if they have anything for it….if you don’t want to tell them you did it yourself just say you got it somewhere else that closed down and you don’t know the name ๐ good luckAnswer by Shina
ok, first off, go to a pro near you. it is illegal to tattoo without a license(if you’re in the US), but most tattooists understand how hard it is to get a license and won’t b*tch about it. there’s a few shops near where i live that know several people who do home tats, and they’ve never complained, unless it was done with a homemade gun that is…
the pro’s would have better advice for you than someone on Y!A, and they know more about tattoo’s than doctors. but, they may send you to one for antibiotics, if necessary.
(oh yea, i think experienced amatuer is an oxymoron…)
Answer by jdtriple antibiotic 4 x a day-it will be fine-u might have went too deep-if ur skin got caught ur needle wasn’t sharp enuf or u might have bumped the point.
edit-yikes that looks like it hurts. too deep-call in amoxicilan(sp?) just in case. tell them a tattooist said it was infected n then they will fax it to walgreens etc.
Answer by TammyIT’S NOT INFECTED! It’s simply retaining fluid. It’s not pus coming out, it’s plasma. Don’t panic. This is something both you and your dad should get used to. Let me explain……….tattoos only get blood poisoning and you’ll know it when you see a red streak (vertical). Any tattoo that is on a joint or that gets hit……..or that was improperly done (sorry) will build fluid. It’s easy to fix. Take Isopropyl 70% and put it on a clean WHITE papertowel……….soak it. Then put it on the tattoo and hold as much pressure on it as you can. Yes, it’s going to sting. Do this for 10-15 minutes at a time, 3-4 times a day. In about 1-2 days it will be fine. The alcohol will actually dry up the fluid in the cells without damaging the ink. This was taught to me by my tattooist who has shops in 2 countries (US & Sweden) and has done this for over 25 years. I had to do it on my wrist tattoo when I hit it on something the morning after it was done. It’s common on wrists, ankles, and other joints.Answer by lindsay_jo_294
If your ameture tattoo artists then you should know how to properly take care of a tattoo. I commend that you are using sterile equipment and such but you still need to practice praticle aftercare. Vaseline doesn’t allow the tattoo to breathe. You need to be cleaning and applying triple antibiotic ointment to it every 4-7 hours. I agree that you need to go see a professional artist and see what else they would reccommend doing.Answer by L Em
Head to a doctor.
In the meantime, grab a little bacatracin (not sure on that spelling). It’s like neosporin, but without all the extraneous fluff.
You may also be helped by saline solution (get non-iodized sea salt and mix it with warm water. apply liberally 4 to 5 times a day.)Answer by mikeinabox1274
I wouldn’t feel too bad if I were you. One of my friends decided it would be a good idea to give herself a tattoo of a heart, so she proceeded to find a sewing needle and some ink and give herself sort of a prison style tatt! It was hilarious, she didn’t get it infected or anything, but it looked terrible and faded away after a year.
