People used to literally hang presents on their Christmas trees, candles too. As you can imagine, it led to some interesting Christmases.
If they aren’t talking about ornaments, which can be considered a gift to the tree to make it become a Christmas tree..but some people also literally and physically put gifts or presents on the trees branches..I hope this Christmas is filled with many PEACEful moments for you and all those that you love…;0)Answer by summer’s♥♥♥mom

In the the “olden days” children received small gifts hung on the tree… It began the tradition of giving gifts… In those days gifts were small and not extravagant as they are now… gingerbread men… Candy… small wooden toys… dolls… trinkets… only later were presents wrapped under the tree and in most cases these days under the tree and around the entire room… I myself would love an “old fashion Christmas” Where one was happy if they got a peppermint stick and a piece of fresh fruit and a good meal… The real meaning of Christmas has been lost by over commercialization of buying… buying … buying… Now people stress about Christmas… The bills… expectations… I really wish I could experience an old fashion Christmas!!!Answer by Edith Anne
Gift giving used to me more meaningful and less commercial and mushc smaller….
It was not uncommon to have a few simple gifts that would have been hung on the tree.
We do this sometimes, particularly with small kids and way to many animals around. Some of the kids give a picture that they drew or a certificate they created and that’s rolled up and hung on the tree. Checks in envelopes etc are also hung on the tree.
One year my mother gave me a TV and hung it on the tree. It was a picture of the TV in a small jewelers box hanging from the tree. Cute
