In cooking recipes the words schütten and giessen are not very common.
You can use ‘beigeben, hinzugeben, beifügen’ (pour in…)
as for giessen ‘aufgiessen’ (Reis in etwas Öl anschwitzen und mit Wasser aufgiessen)
