Rob: If the Nasdaq is done via the internet: Then can I buy stocks without being charged brokerage fees and such?
I’m interested in learning how to invest in something legitimate that may be rewarding. Don’t have a lot to invest so I don’t want to be paying a lot to brokers or others.

No, you must be a licensed broker to trade with the NASDAQ “directly.”
Just any old Tom, Dick, or Harry might expose the network (that’s what the NASDAQ is — a networked link of financial dealer/brokers) to unknown risk…a very big no-no.
Answer by A nobodyNot only is NASDAQ done through the internet but all exchanges use facilities on the internet BUT you can trade directly with them
To trade on any exchange and/or market you must be a member of that exchange and/or market.
All security transactions must be done through a registered broker/dealer.
Individual can not trade directly since they are not only exchange members but they are not members of any clearing organization which process the trades after they are executed. There’s more to trading than simply buying and selling.

You can make trades for as little as $ 10.
