: I would like to reserve cheap accommodation in Rome without credit card payment?
I would like to visit Rome for a week but I would like to book my reservation without credit card payment. Showing a hotel/hostel/guest house accommodation is a requirement of schegen visa . But I’m not comfortable booking an accommodation online through credit card. I would like to pay room charges in cash when I’m there in person. But I just need an accommodation invoice with total cost for my stay.

You can book many hotels through sites like Venere.com https://www.venere.com/italy/rome/ where your credit card won’t be charged until you’ve used the room. However, you do need to give your credit card number to hold the room. There are a few exceptions where your card will be charged immediately for special room rates, but you will be told in advance if that is the case. https://www.venere.com/hotels/rome/hotel-cesari/

I can’t think of any hotel or hostel site that won’t take a credit card to reserve. Check hostels.com they only require 10%.
