Tara G: I am building a large connection list for linkedin. Does anyone know how to manage a large connection list?
I would like to have a large network on linked in, however, I do not want to spammers & recruiters in my network. It would be very helpful if someone could provide good insite on how to manager a large network.

Tara,
I can’t help with the question as stated – but I’d like to help.
You don’t say why you want to build a large connection list – what do you think that will get you? Even if you have a huge network, you won’t be able to use introductions from people that don’t know and trust you.
The practical matter is that you can’t qualify your connections by asking “are you a spammer?”
The only solution to having a good network is to know and trust all of the people you connect to.
This will give you a smaller network, but one that you can rely on.
Let’s say you want to meet Mrs X – and find out that Mrs X is a conneciton of your former co-wroker Ray. By using a LinkedIn “introduction”, you can ask Ray to introduce you to Mrs X – and count on Ray to do that for you. (as long as you outline why and have a good reason)
If you connect to Mrs X through some random person in the world, you can’t expect them to introduce someone they don’t know to the influential Mrs X now can you?
It isn’t a game where the person with the most connections wins, it’s a tool where the people with the best network make great things happen.
Well – that’s my story and I’m sticking with it;-)
