My husband wants to start a business that services other businesses. Any ideas for services to offer? We were thinking about window washing, supplies, light changing, light repairs. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Your husband shouldn’t just start a business because he wants to start a business. He should start a business with a goal in mind, or because he loves what his business offers and thinks he will be able to make a difference in the community. If he does start a business it should be something that everyone needs, and something he has experience in doing. He also needs to choose a practice that will make him happy and is best for your situation. (Example: he wouldn’t want to be a window washer if you lived somewhere that constantly rained, because he would come home everyday wet.) Just remember choose something he is good at and likes. GOOD LUCK!

Yes I have other ideas. In my over 35 years experience I learned there are two ways to make a living one by working hard, but how many hard working people do we all know that live paycheck to paycheck? We all know too many I’m sorry to say. The second way is by working smart, although I applaud you and your husbands enthusiasm it is not a recession proof business and you would rely on account that could stop using you in a minute.

I started my own business at the age of 17 and became a self made millionaire by the age of 25, hard to believe from a stranger over the internet but nevertheless true. I retired at the age of 50 when one of my sons was in a motocross accident and suffered permanent brain damage. I now devote my time to helping people start their own businesses. This might sound crazy but if you want to start a business which is original. Your new business is going to be solar panel cleaning. This will give your clients more power and you will be the first to have the business. IM me if you suceed. Neil Thorpe

As a business owner, I agree with a comment a few above mine…that one should NOT start a business just to own a business, as business ownership is much harder than a regular job.

That being said, today, most businesses are looking for ways to cut costs and improve their bottom-line. Also, renewable energy is a big topic. How about consulting firm helping businesses save money on energy costs? You’d be riding on the coat-tails of two popular, talked-about topics. Can’t beat that…let the media create the need for what you offer.
