Thebighorn: How would I go about running a local casino?
All of this is theoretical of course. If I were to open a casino of sorts between friends, what games should I have? Blackjack tends to win a lot, and I couldn’t get my hands on a roulette wheel (even if I wanted to). Is casino poker even a reasonable option? How does that work, by selling chips? I realize that state gambling laws prohibit actual gambling and changing of money, but like I said before, this is theoretical.

someone’s looking to expand poker out of grandmas basement…
With Poker you would (theoretically) take a 5-10% (say) rake from each pot. You might have a minimum and/or a maximum amount depending on the game/players. You need no bankroll, unless you also play.
With Blackjack: you simply are the house and have the overall inherent advantage (and disadvantages) of the house position. This mathematical advantage could be severely diminished, and even reversed, if you deal a one deck game . . and if you run the cards all the way out with two decks or more (shuffle after each round or two). The main disadvantage is that you must have a bankroll large enough to pay off all winners.
You (theoretically) tend to lose friends, in these situations, when they lose a lot of money.
Oh, and you would need to get registered chips so players can’t bring in ones identical to what you’re using!Answer by pdq
Accept this fact: Anyone that needs to ask this question from the Yahoo! Answers forum could NEVER pull this off.
I’m not trying to be mean, man. Just real.
Answer by JackAceWell, if it’s all theoretical, then you would just theoretically do everything that a brick and mortar casino would do. The only thing you would do differently is pay off the cops that find out that you are running an illegal underground casino.
