swcc: How well do energy stocks do during a recession?
Does anyone have any experience with this? I know it’s a waiting game. Generally, consumer stocks are good choices, things people need like food, toilet paper, medicine, etc. Well, people need oil and gas to heat their homes, drive their cars, and businesses need it to produce and deliver. Wouldn’t energy stocks qualify?

Utility companies do OK. Try Duke
The economy is slowing and we may be entering a recession. Unemployment is at multi-year highs, people dont drive to work, business dont produce, and people and businesses need fewer thing delivered, except essentials.. Look what oil and gas prices are doing.
