manjot.gill69: How to get into hockey and become a professional?
I am 16 right now, I played road hockey all my life, I have played with roller blades and I am really good but I have not played Ice Hockey. I want to get into it now and become a professional. What do I need to do?

First, you need to get used to the different feel and skills on ice hockey skates.
Many of the pros (in most sports) have been playing since they were little kids. You would have a LOT of catching up to do.
If your high school does not have a hockey team, you will need to find one elsewhere. You cannot get good without a good coach. You may need to find a new high school that has a better hockey program.
You need to get into every hockey clinic and camp that you can. Again, you are behind the skill level of the people you want to compete against and need to catch up.
You will need to skate all winter and preferably in the summer. Unless you are in a hockey area where you can skate outside in the winter or get ice time for the summer, you might need to move.
The easiest way (and even that isn’t easy) is to get good enough in the next couple years to get onto a good college team. Look at the schools that the pros came from to get an idea of how good you need to get into.
The alternate way is to play on club teams and then onto a minor league team.
Keep in mind that only the best high school players get to play at the college level and only a few of them become pros.
Since you have not been living and developing your skills for the last 5-10 years, it will be very difficult.
uh, all i can say is good luck.

honestly, i wouldn’t even try. ALL of the pro’s have been playing since they could walk, and some from before. Also, roller hockey is much different than ice hockey. I know because I have been playing hockey for about 10 years now, and i also play roller hockey. However if u were going to try, i would start playing ice hockey RIGHT NOW, plus i would do all sorts of conditioning, and training exercises to get into superb shape (maybe even get a personal trainer?). You also might want to get a personal skating coach to really improve your skating skills. Also you are going to want to get on an ice hockey team, and then maybe after you get used to it tryout for a team that you could get recognized by scouts on. Hope that helps, good luck because honestly, ur going to need it!Answer by Fozia A
