If you know any programming languages (php, mySQL, html, etc) you could become a member of elance.com, phpjobs.com, etc. You basically post your resume to these sites and people offer you jobs to do work for them.

Check the many different webmaster and SEO forums. A good place to start would be V7N forum.

Also become a member of the SEO community, get to know other SEO’s. For the most part we are a pretty tight knit community. We always welcome new SEO’s (as long as you aren’t ripping people off 😉 )..
