exhausted__: How to get a cat to relax at a cat show?
Do you have any tricks, tips, secrets to get a cat to play in the ring at a cat show?
Currently we take car rides, go to pet stores, had a couple friends hold him. I do have cat calmers with hops/ triptophan but don’t know if it works. He seems the same.

Have you tried feliway spray – it’s fab for nervous cats?
You have to start showing a cat as young as you can. They allow 4 months old kittens to be shown. They have to get use to the tension and sounds of the hall. They are more apt to not be bothered by everything that is going on. The older the cat the harder it is to get them use to it. How often do you show your cat? Every weekend will help some. I do not suggest any drugs unless the cat is growling at everything and then I say don’t show the cat again because it is not happy in the show hall. Plus it is not what the judges are looking for, they want to see the cat as it is the temperament and how it reacts. They also know when a cat is not happy to be at the show. No judge will do anything with a drugged cat and believe me they have been around a very long time and know when a cat has been sedated. Talk to the breeder you got the cat from and see what they have to say.
