Norris: How to best promote a web design and SEO blog?
I am not a newbie at SEO or Web Design, but I am always looking for new ideas to help build traffic for my new blog

I am looking for answers from experienced SEO enthusiasts or fellow blog owners – what traffic generation techniques do you feel work the best.

You Tube has worked very well for me, I have ranked pretty decent with some keywords in google that i could not do through my blog, also buying you tube accounts from people or renting it so that I could put my link under their video.

Another great technique i have used is Google Alerts, I sign up and create my keyword list, I then site back and let google do the fetching for me, Then I take about 30minutes / day looking through the links that google sent me and answering back some blog comments redirecting them to my site or joining a forum and and giving some helpful advice then leading them back to my site eventually.

And lastly,

My Favorite just plain old organic search, I signed up to this guys website a few months ago and I have been very impressed with his backlinks. Best of all, he is giving them away 20 back links / month for FREE. They are all High PR and or .edu, .gov and .org websites.

Youtube!!! it is a very easy way to generate the relevant traffic, most of the people make their own videos and than upload them but I just share the videos relevant to my field a and promote the link through the description.
Article submission is not a new technique but if you are paying less attention to it, stop it! now Google is giving too much importance to the links in the articles and in the author’s biography.

I have found https:// to be a good place to start generating traffic to my new web pages. I usually go on here and leave links to my new sites and google will rank my page higher in searches. That is my main source of web traffic.

One great way to get some quality back-links is to submit your blog to directory submission websites. If you do not already have one, create a site map in the appropriate formats. If you are using the WordPress software you can download and install this plug-in to automate the process. After getting the site-map together you should then submit it to Google Webmaster Tools. This will help Google index your site the way it should be. The next step would be to submit it to Yahoo’s dictionary . You can pay a large fee to speed up the process of getting a spot if you want. Write For Other Websites

One great way to get back-links to write for other websites and blogs and link back to yourself. If you can find another author that will let you make a guest post that is the way to go. If the blog you post on has a good reader base then you should also get some good traffic back to your site depending on the quality of your post.

Forums

A great way to generate back-links and gain some readers is to become part of a forum that is related to your website. I am part of 10-12 internet forums across the internet. Just make sure you do not become a spammer. If you join a forum you need to become an active member of the community to succeed with this tactic.

video sharing

Video sharing sites have become so popular. Creating useful videos that have to do with your niche is a great way to attract readers. This also gives you a chance to back-link from your profiles on these video sharing sites.

Along with you can concentrate on Stumble upon, with this you can get traffic, good reviews to your site because your blog so nice and having good stuff. While stumbling stumble related sites and try as much as possible back links from related sites with the anchor text.

Couple suggestions for you…

1) https://canada.webdesignfinders.net/ add your website to this directory.

2) You need to get a lot more backlinks, so far it looks like you only have 5 and they’re mostly from Yahoo Answers. Start posting on relevant dofollow blogs, signing up for forums and maybe writing some articles for ezine, or something. Be sure to make your anchor text Ottawa Web Design, or whatever keywords you are trying to rank for.

3) Write some awesome articles on your blog and social bookmark them like crazy. Start a tweeter feed, that kind of thing.

4) You’re using wordpress so download the Platinum SEO Plugin; it’ll help your cause.

5) Change your description to include your keywords and throw your keywords in your article headers, content etc…
