: How muck puppy food should I give 3 weeks old german shepherd pups that are being weened?
One of the mother’s mammary glands ruptured and she stopped letting the pups drink her milk. I have been using puppy formula for a week and now the pups are refusing to drink it. My vet suggested weening them off the formula by mixing it with puppy food and warm water making it into a mush, but he never said how much to give at once. I have 9 pups, any suggestions?

just make a bunch the first time, and then the next time you feed them, make however much was eaten, plus a tiny bit. Puppies need alot of food, and you need to feed them 3-4 times a day. This isn’t going to be cheap 😐
Follow the vets. advice and mix the formula and puppy food. Just put the food and formula in a large oblong cake pan. fill the pan about 1/2 way with food mixture and let the puppies eat all they want. You have 9 puppies so they are going to eat a lot as they grow. As young as they are you will need to feed then every 3 hrs. When pups have full stomach and are ready to sleep dump any food that they did not eat. Don’t keep it it will go bad real fast. I prefer to use goats milk but do not use cows milk or puppies will get diarrhea.Answer by bluebonnetgranny
After you have fed them several times you will be able to tell how much they need. They will stop eating when they are full. Make more than what you would think so if you are short your got a back up. Save it till next meal.
Look up “taking care of new born puppies”, lots of information there.
The sack of Puppy Chow should have feeding instructions on it some where.
