mindthegap49: How much difference does a new tennis racket make?
I have had the same tennis racket for about 5 years, but I am 15 years old and started playing tennis competatively this past season. My frame has some dents in it, and the strings don’t seem….as nice as others. I feel like a never get the same satisfying “whump” noise when i hit the ball, and that my forehand isn’t always consistent. Do you think it is time to upgrade? If so, any suggestions on where I can get quality, but affordable rackets?

alot if you don’t have one
if your racket is 5 years old, has dents in it, and you’re starting to play competitive, you definitely need a new racket. The dents could throw off the balance of your racket and that could be making your forehand inconsistent. Also, if the strings came with the racket, thats why they are probably not as nice. If you want new strings, you should consider getting hybrid strings or just one, it depends on if you want comfort and the way you hit the ball. yeah, and if you want a new racket, go to www.tenniswarehouse.com they have everything there from bags to rackets. Personally, i like the babolat areo, but its sort of fragile. If that bothers you, look at the yonexes and the babolat drives. The Yonex RDSs are nice and are around 180, a decent price, and babolat drives are around 190. But, if you dont want to spend as much, you can always buy a used one from a teaching pro or friend. But, you don’t rush on buying, make sure you try out some of the rackets at a club before you buy. Have fun and good luck with tennis.Answer by Cosmin
If you have had the racquet for 5 years it is time for a new one…A good source to buy and especially to try out racquets before buying would be www.tenniswarehouse.com. Demo a few before you buy one! Good luck!Answer by Gabe
You definitely have to get a new one after five years. A new racquet makes a very big difference because you can get much more control and power. If you don’t want to get a new tennis racquet then you can just re-string your old one, that will help a lot believe me.Answer by neverland22
