HW: How much Canadian tax would I have to pay if I work abroad?
I got a job offer as an Assistant Language Teacher in Japan, but I am worried that I will not be able to save because I have to pay taxes in Quebec, Canada. Can anyone with experience tell me how much tax I would actually have to pay? (preferably both Canadian and Japanese side, and please provide your sources if possible). My parents are against breaking residential ties with Canada, so I cannot be exempt from taxes.
Unfortunately, I am not in the JET program, but a small ALT dispatch company.

If it’s the Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Programme, you’re lucky – under Article 18 of the Canada-Japan Tax Treaty, Canadian JET participants don’t pay any Canadian tax on their Japanese income while on JET.
