chickey: How long does it take to get your apartment deposit back after you move out?
I’m ending my six month lease on May 31st. Everything in the apartment is in order. Everything is clean, nothing is left in the apartment, nothing is damaged or missing, and i had the carpets professionally cleaned. I’ve never been late on my rent. So how long will it take to get my apartment deposit back after i move out? Thanks for your answers.

Ask your landlord, everyone is different and it depends on how much damage you have. The less you have the quicker you should get it back.
Usually the timeframe is mandated by state law. In most it’s 30 days.Answer by chante
They usually have up to 30 days. Some of this is covered by state and city law.Answer by Brandi C
It depends on the law in your state. In California, landlords are required to return your deposit within 21 days.
Be sure you do a move out inspection with your landlord. If they end up charging you for something like cleaning and you didn’t do a move out inspection you have no way of proving that the apartment wasn’t clean. Be sure to get a paper in writing signed and dated by the landlord that says what is wrong and if nothing is wrong, that must be stated also.
