Ompelle: How is small government possible in a nation of 312 million citizens?
Back in the late 18th century, America only had 3 million people. The government was fairly small until after the Civil War. Now it’s 100x that amount. How would a small government be feasible with our massive infrastructure and hundreds of millions of people? If government were smaller, wouldn’t it be easier to corrupt and more susceptible to fall into the hands of a few? Please be sincere?

It can only happen during a Democrat president according to retarded people.
Because you have government on different levels.
Local.
County.
State.
Federal.
Why should the Federal government be as big as it is, and why should it do the jobs of local, county and state?
I would rather deal with locals than some idiot bureaucrat in DC.
Answer by Canadian ObserverThe Right call for a smaller Federal government.
A more powerful State government would mean that the State government would able to have more control over policies and laws in their particular state. As we all know, each state has its own situation, and it would a poor idea to try to generalize them all.
Of course certain issues must be handled by the Federal government, such as defense.
The only problem with the a powerful State government is that there times when half of the state disagrees on one thing while the other half agree on it, with both sides wanting their idea to be spread throughout the entire nation. This is what lead to the American Civil War. Red states wanted for slavery to made illegal throughout the entire United States, while Blue states wanted for slavery to be legal in the south. They couldn’t agree, and thus a Civil War began.
