Could you imagine if Christians or Jews hung people – killed them if they left their religions? Maybe most lefty liberals wouldn’t attack Christians and Jews if they were brutal killers like Islam is and call them Religion of Peace too?

There is no proof in the Quran or any hadith that one should hang his fellow brother or sister for leaving the faith for it is a crime in islam just as killing an innocent person is. I have never seen this occur in any muslim country personally. And those who do this “in the name of islam” are not really muslims. Moreover, let me get this straight, which i dont know why people believe without taking any thought. Islam, as stated, is NOT a religion of compulsion and one that forces a person into it. And people who believe that the religion of islam will and only prevail by the sword are misguided. I believe islam will prevail by its truthfulness.

The prophet pbuh said that the “Ink of a scholar is more holier than the blood of a martyr.” So i believe people who think peace will only be achieved through war and murder are again misguided and bound for trouble. This goes for both the muslim extremists and any other extremists in any other religion for that matter.

So to answer your question, a religious group that hangs people for leaving a faith can have no association to Islam, because the true religion does not advocate these actions. Moreover, there is no specific basis for these “men of religion” to commit theses actions due to the fact that killing people for the sake of their faith is not outlined in the holy Quran. If you want to spread your religion do it by action or speak of it. No need to use the sword, so to speak.

Christians used to, way back when in History, kill people who were not Christian. This is not a something new. Islam is not a “brutal killer”. There are always fanatics and crazies, in any religion. Islam was intended to be the religion of peace, but some people are convoluting it and twisting it around. For instance, the Quraan says women should be modest. It never says anything about wearing full length cloaks. Most Muslim females (outside of Saudi and Afghanistan) have full rights. They can drive, hold office and many don’t wear a scarf. Islam was supposed to be peaceful, but crazy people in some governments have convoluted what the Quraan has said, and changed it. As for terrorism, like I said, there are always crazies. Most Muslims actually want to combat terrorism. Maybe if you actually bothered to visit the Middle East or learn more about Arab culture, you would be more knowledgeable.

BTW: Why do you have to start fights? Bored and ignorant, huh?

In Islam we DO NOT hang people. In the Quran is specifically says:   وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظْلُومًا فَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا لِوَلِيِّهِ سُلْطَانًا فَلَا يُسْرِف فِّي الْقَتْلِ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مَنصُورًا  And do not kill any one whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is slain unjustly, We have indeed given to his heir authority, so let him not exceed the just limits in slaying; surely he is aided.  

وَقَاتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ وَلاَ تَعْتَدُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ وَاقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ وَأَخْرِجُوهُمْ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَخْرَجُوكُمْ وَالْفِتْنَةُ أَشَدُّ مِنْ الْقَتْلِ وَلاَ تُقَاتِلُوهُمْ عِنْدَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ حَتَّى يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ فِيهِ فَإِنْ قَاتَلُوكُمْ فَاقْتُلُوهُمْ كَذَلِكَ جَزَاءُ الْكَافِرِينَ فَإِنْ انتَهَوْا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّى لاَ تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكُونَ الدِّينُ لِلَّهِ فَإِنْ انتَهَوْا فَلاَ عُدْوَانَ إِلاَّ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ الشَّهْرُ الْحَرَامُ بِالشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ وَالْحُرُمَاتُ قِصَاصٌ فَمَنْ اعْتَدَى عَلَيْكُمْ فَاعْتَدُوا عَلَيْهِ بِمِثْلِ مَا اعْتَدَى عَلَيْكُمْ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِينَ
“Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loves not transgressors. And kill them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, kill them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith. But if they cease, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. The prohibited month, for the prohibited month, and so for all things prohibited, there is the law of equality. If then any one transgresses the prohibition against you, transgress ye likewise against him. But fear Allah, and know that Allah is with those who restrain themselves.” (al-Baqarah 2:190-194)
