blanknot: How is an arranged marriage so much more acceptable than a gay marrige?
Arranged marriages are definitely not illegal anywhere in the world, and the royal wedding is receiving so many praises. However, no politician or company would ever dare to openly accept gay marriage as even tolerable. Shouldn’t a gay marriage based on love be more acceptable than a marriage arranged for any other reason? Is marriage more about traditions and religion than it is about love?

That’s because the concept of marrying for love is actually a relatively new idea. In the past, it was seen as a business deal that could secure financial, political and familial success, and love was seen as a sweet extra, though not exactly necessary.

Edit: Also, marriage didn’t always intertwine with religion. People today just have a tendency to view it as a religious ceremony religious rather than something economical (since married couples do get special privileges from the state).

personally,i would hate those people that hate gay marriage, just because they are not “right”. but seriously, does those people know what does “right” really means? geez.

I believe that both gay marriage and arranged marriages should be acceptable and legal in the country. Arranged marriages could save a person’s life or make it a hell of a lot better. In the past people did not ever marry for love, that is a new concept we have developed in the past 100 years. I believe gay marriage is okay, even though I am conservative. People who should be able to marry whoever they love, as long as an arranged marriage comes first. For me arranged marriage> loving marriage
