How far in advance should I start preparing for the CPA exam?

gem: How far in advance should I start preparing for the CPA exam?
I plan to have all MD state qualifications completed by Dec 2007, and sit for the exam in the spring of 2008.

I hope to take a review course in the spring of 08 as well. For those who have taken the exam, when did you start studying for it?
