hlstream987: How far along were you before you started wearing maternity cloths?
I’m 12 weeks pregnant and just got some maternity clothes as gifts. While my exsisting clothes are just starting to get too tight, my maternity clothes are still big. Is there a happy medium betweeen being too small for maternity, but too big for the clothes that I have?

I’m going shopping next week ( ill be a day or 2 under 15 weeks ) as Im expanding already due to my uterus pushing everythign up lol…So Im guessing Ill need it in a few weeks
You could buy regular clothes that is one size bigger than your size now until you fit the maternity clothes.
Good luck!
Answer by pookiesmom1st pregnancy wasn’t until 7 months, 2nd pregnancy was twins and started wearing them about 5mths and last one thankfully I was in healthcare and got to wear scrubs everyday cause I got big fast! A lot of designers are making maternity clothes that adjust to a growing belly and that can also be worn post partum. Right now you’re luck that it’s cold you can just wear sweaters or loose winter clothes.Answer by Jen C
I say wear what ever is comfortable to you!
I’m 20 weeks pregnant and I haven’t wore any maternity clothes yet! lol… I bought some bigger, sized regular clothes and I feel very comfortable in them. I have a feeling I’ll be buying some maternity jeans soon tho.
It’s all about how you feel and what you wear, some women like wearing the maternity clothes because it makes the “look” pregnant, and the fit to your growing belly needs.. All depends on what you want.Answer by ladyscientist28
Good question, thanks for asking it. I’m about 4 weeks (I could be off by a week or so) and I’m already fearing maternity clothes….there are some ugly ones out there.Answer by businessmom25

If there is I haven’t found it
15 weeks along and I thought I know I’ll buy some cheap jeans a size bigger – they look stupid!
Leggings and long jumpers are working for me – looks good with boots, comfy too!
Answer by Carmen LiviaI’m due tomorrrow (yey!) and never wore ANY maternity clothes my ENTIRE pregnancy i just wore alot of big shirts i got from concerts when i couldn’t get into my regular shirts. did n’t really see the need for maternity clothesAnswer by Ghost Writer Rides Again
Well, the part that sucks is that the only way I was able to solve this prob was to buy bigger sizes in regular clothing. You may not get into the maternity clothes until you are about four to five months. The good thing about having to buy slightly larger sizes is that once you have the baby and start to lose some of the baby weight, you don’t have to live in the maternity clthes or sweats, you’ll have a few odd sizes to hold you over until you slowly get back down to your original size, if you are able to.Answer by Hilla B
I started wearing the jeans @ 12 weeks due to bloating. I am 27 weeks and mostly still wear regular shirts that are long enough to cover my tummy.Answer by Gun Dream
I was around 3 months when I started wearing maternity pants. They were too big at the time and I had to keep pulling them up, but I would rather wear something too big than something too tight. Gives you extra room for snacks as well 😛
I didn’t find a happy medium, but I decided not to spend too much money on clothes I’m only going to wear for a few months.
Answer by Nikita JWOW 12 wks is right when I started showing too and sweat pants were my best Friend. But they have all kinds of maternity pants and shirts and they’re getting cuter and stylish every time I see them. Just shop around see what you can find because I you don’t want to jeopardize the health of your child. When I was pregnant I only bout 2 pair of maternity jean, 5 pair of sweat pants and 3 dresses and a few extra large shirts and I was good to go. And remember you don’t need to buy a lot because your going to lose the weight after.Answer by nanook
I had the same thing happen so I bought some yoga and running pants, really any workout pant will do, and I wore those until I fit into the maternity clothes. They were really handy after I had the baby as well. I also wore some of hubby’s jeans for a few months with the bottoms rolled up (after I got over the depression of being able to fit into them, lol). Next time I am going to buy a bella band, it is a maternity band that fits over the top of your jeans and allows you to leave them unbuttoned- . Take care.Answer by hockeymommy
If you can afford it, go buy a few inexpensive pairs of cotton pants with the stretchy waist (Kmart, Walmart or Target) about 1 size bigger than you normally wear. (They are just starting to come in for spring) The tummy doesn’t fill out for another month or so but tight pants really suck when your pregnant. Shirts should be fine for now. Good Luck!!Answer by Squirrel
I’m 20 weeks and till can’t fit into maternity clothes. Well, the shirts fit, but the pants don’t. They make the hips and butts HUGE on those pants! I’ve been wearing yoga pants etc. until I get big enough to wear the rediculously large maternity jeans!Answer by me_myself
i am about 18 weeks and just got maternity clothes. If you look at some of the jeans they have this strap inside to pull it in some or let it out. I personaly think those are the best. And they are stylish boot cut and i got mine from jc pennys.Answer by ♥Aaron’s Mommy♥
I started wearing maternity clothes at about 12 weeks. I got some nice fitting shirts and pants at oldnavy, and they lasted through the majority of my pregnancy. If you are uncomfortable in the maternity clothes, buy some larger cheap clothing from Walmart, k-mart, etc.Answer by jrodr2001
1st preganancy… 3 months
This time around. I’m 7 weeks and i’m ready to get bigger pants.Answer by Regina
You can get something called the Bella Band. You wear it with your prepregnancy clothes. That way you can wear what you have a little longer.

Answer by peaches_kittykatI am 14 weeks but I haven’t been able to fit into my regular clothes for at least 3 weeks. I was a size 2 – 4 (four was nice and loose most of the time- I really hate that the size depends on the brand don’t you?) So I had some of my mom gaucho’s that I have been wearing (they are larges!) and I am fortunate that my husband has so many really big t-shirts (he doesn’t like tight/ to fitted clothing) that he lets me steal. I feel so jealous at all of you who didn’t look like they have a basketball stuck under their belly- like I do! 🙂Answer by it’s a BOY! due 6/30/08
I just started and I am 17 weeks.Answer by katkat
I bought some cheap bits from asda in 1/2 sizes too big to bridge that gap! I wasn’t in maternity this time until 6 1/2 months, but couldn’t get into normal stuff either!!
I found that a couple of cheap tops and jeans etc were enough to see me through the awkward stage!
