Demon Wolf Lurking: How do you start up an ice hockey league?
I’m moving to an area with arenas, but no female adult hockey teams. What all would be involved in getting a league started? (There’s about 4 towns nearby that are good potential to start up a small league).

beyond starting a small game i have no idea
Start with a group renting ice for pick up. Put up signs in groceries and arenas looking for prospects. It takes about 20 committed people to start a regular pick up game. When you get a committed group of regulars it might be time to look at expanding into a full league.
For a league you will need a convenor and officials. Even a simple four team league requires an arbiter to handle disputes and mediate justice and perceived improprieties.
Good Luck. When these ventures succeed they are worth the effort.
Answer by NorthstarPut up flyers at your local arenas and places of business. Put ads in newspaper and on internet around the area. Facebook would be a great idea to start a website for your league. Go to open hockey at your rink and start talking to people. Teams really only have to be 7-12 players. When you get enough players, talk to your rink manager and schedule some ice. Later ice time is usually cheaper. Refs are nice to have but not essential. Get a trophy.
Good luck!
