LIORA Reincarnationist: How do you imagine religions on other worlds?
Just a what-if question for the imaginative thinkers out there …
(For example)
In other worlds with “intelligent” life similar to our own, would their religions be similar too, or do you think Earth might be unique in its belief systems?
Would religions with a solitary savior be as likely out there as here in Earth’s history? Is the image of a divine sacrificial lamb probably a theme that spans across space?
And how would you imagine religion in a highly advanced (very intelligent) alien civilization?

All life as we know it is in a structured hierarchy .. theres always going to be the big tomato somewhere ..
It is beyond my imagining, without a little bit of data about the world and species in question.

>Some undoubtable have a religion that resembles one of the many earth religions
Would religions with a solitary savior be as likely out there as here in Earth’s history? Is the image of a divine sacrificial lamb probably a theme that spans across space?
>That all depends on the culture that the religion developed in, and whether or not the species is guided more by personal intuition or authority figures. The divine sacrificial lamb would only be found in human religion, since sheep are strictly a Terran species.
And how would you imagine religion in a highly advanced (very intelligent) alien civilization?
Probably more enlightened than ours.
Popular religions here are often based on worship of the sun and the cosmos, such as Christianity. On another planet, it’s reasonable to assume that any man-like creature would come to similar thoughts and conclusions, but different because the astrological differences would cause them to develope entirely different stories.
It mostly comes down to their environment and similarity to mankind. It’s more interesting to imagine an intelligent life form living thousands of miles under ground, unaware of all the things our myths are based on. Then what myths do they come up with? If you change the environment enough, you’ll come up with something interesting.
Answer by CoreyIt’s anthropocentric, but I imagine that intelligent life is behaviorally similar to us (but not physically). So I expect that religions are more common than not among intelligent life in the universe. It’s a by product of over-active problem solving. Too efficient patern matching combined with reliance on authority for knowledge.
But that’s all in my imagination. I suspect that we will never make contact with an extant or extinct extraterrestrial civilization.
Answer by Omnia VanitasReligions, to me, is one essential part of human evolution. Religions has, emotionally speaking, helped human cope with the unknown since the dawn of civilization. But know it became redundant, like your tail in your early stage as an embryo. It should be eliminated, or at least removed from power.Answer by Q Who?
Intelligent life by my definition is a post theist civilisation. They would probably be similar, with the nutjobs first and as intelligence and science grew they would get more vague and personal until they disappeared. An extremely intelligent civilisation would have no problems and no reason for religion.Answer by Exile
I imagine their God or gods will look like their species and have ‘made them in their own image’.
Just like ours conveniently did!

I saw an allegedly enlightened woman — who allegedly has a large following — she was on TV and she talked about beings on other planets. “They are no more spiritually advanced than we are.” She said. In my own opinion there are sentient beings on many planets, and the degree of their spirituality varies with as many different species of aliens that there are. Some are godlike and greatly advanced compared to humans. Some are like exceedingly intelligent ants. They have much larger bodies than ants here on earth, and big brains. They exist in order to perpetuate their colony. Hopefully they have not discovered our rich planet. A tasty morsel for them.
