Jhfghj Jgdghb: How do you delete pictures from the desktop pictures folder on a mac?
My friend set the desktop of my mac to a picture that would be embarrassing if someone was on my computer and saw in the desktop pictures folder that it was once my background. Unfortunately it seems impossible to delete pictures from the “Pictures Folder” in the “Desktop & Screen Saver” part of “System preferences”. Any ideas?

Answer by Joseph GriswallIf the picture is stored in your home folder, or in the nested Pictures or Documents folders inside of the home folder, then you could start by deleting that copy of the picture.
Now since it is your desktop background, there is another copy of the image stored somewhere within the system. You cannot “delete” this image, but it can be changed by changing your wallpaper.
Open Safari, and visit
Then, either save the image to your Pictures folder and set it from the system’s Desktop & Screen Saver preferences pane, or you may be able to set it directly from the browser by command-clicking on the image and selecting the menu-item “Use Image as Desktop Picture.”
Best of Luck.
Answer by HiiFirst change it to a different one,
Then go to the pictures folder and move it into your trash. If it’s really embarrassing then click trash and click empty trash. It will delete it forever and it won’t bs on your computer…(?)Answer by Scott Lubin
You can delete you’re desktop’s pictures on any mac computer by simply dragging the photo to the trash application on the doc at the bottom of the screen. If you are having trouble with this you can either change the screen saver or desktop picture to one of your choice or by choosing one of the default screen savers and desktop pictures and you can then delete the folder by selecting is and simultaneously pressing control and delete. This should automatically delete your photos in the process. If you have tried this unsuccessfully and your computer still fails to delete your picture album, then you can contact Apple or try- https://www.apple.com/support/ for any further references.Answer by Angel
Highlight the pic you want to delete in the preferences and click on the minus symbol “-” under the list.Answer by ƃʍɐp ʇıdsuɹnʇ
Just locate the image file in the Finder and trash it.
The standard folder for desktop background images is Macintosh HD / Library / Desktop Pictures. Your friend might not have put the file there, though. So, if you know the filename or parts of it, use the Spotlight search to find it.
