Aonghas Shrugged: How do various religions regard explicit sexual dreams during sleep? Is such considered sin?
For those religions which have a concept of sin, does sleep involve a difference in “moral responsibility” such that sinful thoughts — such as fantasies about adulterous acts or pornographic situations — are judged differently than the same things fantasized when the mind is fully awake?
I understand that Christians tend to believe that the initial thoughts are not necessarily sinful unless embraced and further fantasized. But I’m not clear whether Christians and/or other religions believe that accountability for sin is impacted by whether one’s mind/conscience is in a sleep state.
