: How do they teach tumbling at gymnastics schools?
I have NO tumbling experience at all(I can only do a cartwheel). I’ve always wanted to learn an aerial for certain reasons, and have signed up to take private lessons at a gymnastics school. I’m starting to get really nervous because I do have a fear of flipping and getting hurt. I’m just wondering how they teach aerials at gymnastics schools. Do they tell you to just go for it, or do they walk you through it? I’m a 19 year old female, 5’1 and in good shape.

They walk you through it and then spot you as they’re teaching it. They will help you in the beginning, but not as much towards the end. You won’t get hurt. They always have mats on the floor. I did a class at a high school and i was fine. (they did not have as much equipment)
The first thing they do is drain the pool. Then, they move the starting blocks into the pool and everyone must learn to do somersaults over the starting blocks.
BTW … did you notice that his a SPORT OF SWIMMING BOARD and NOT a gymnastics board?
