Sam Addams: How do I travel internationally as a lawyer?
I am in my final year of law school and I want to travel A LOT as a lawyer. I would love to travel not only in the U.S, but all over the world as well. Any ideas about how to maximize the amount of travel I do straight out of law school?

Ask your professor? Your not going to be much of a lawyer if you have to ask a question like that! Perhaps go to work for Obama. You’ll fit right in.

Get valid passport and visa, if it is required to enter another country such as Russia, and buy plane tickets.

If your area of specialization is international law, and your law firm has international-law practice, they might send you to various countries from time to time, or even assign you to one of their offices overseas. You will need experience in the area before they send you anywhere and start getting business visas for you.

Straight out of law school, the only travel you will be doing is vacations/holidays at your expense. You have to be admitted to the bar, and have a job which entails travel to be eligible for business visas. And your employer likely has to apply for those, or at the very least, prepare an employment letter in support of your application for a biz visa.
