jmd_lildaz: How do I stop my Yahoo email account from sending spam emails to my friends?
Several of my friends have told me that they have received numerous spam emails from my Yahoo email account. What can I do to stop that from happening? I don’t remember having clicked on any bad links in spam that I’ve received. Also, I already tried changing my password. Any helpful ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Yea-hoo could care less about our problems with spam. They make money from it. They are certainly not going to help stop it. You may get some idiot from this site telling you how to cure all your spam problems. I promise you as long as we are on yea-hoo we will have this problem.
Run a virus/malware scan, then change your password again. You don’t always have to click on links – just opening spam is sometimes enough to launch a virusAnswer by Jamie
I am having the same problem and I am sooo annoyed with it! I have contacted yahoo about it a few times and so far I got no response. I don’t want to change my email but I am afraid it will happen all over again. If you find out a way to top it please let me know and I will return the favor if I figure it out!!Answer by Patrick R
Thousands of Yahoo! Mail customers (myself included) are having this issue. I have called Yahoo! Customer service twice, first on August 11th 2010 and most recently on August 25th. Here is what they have told me both times:
This is a KNOWN ISSUE at Yahoo! and the engineers there are working to resolve it. The email is not coming from your PC, or any virus or threat on your PC, the Yahoo! servers have been hacked, allowing the spammers to take address book contacts and your email name from your account. They then spam your address book contacts using your email address, so it probably doesn’t matter if you change your passwords, though they do recommend that anyway. Today Yahoo! told me that they hope to have it resolved in 24 hours, but given that I’ve had the problem for 2 weeks now, that is probably not likely.
