dewingedfairy: How do I start a garden from scratch?
I recently bought a home in a rural country area with three acres. I want to turn a patch into a vegetable garden. I have done vegetable garden previously in my current home, however it was in a surburban area and I made raised beds with potting soil. How should I go about starting a vegetable garden in solid un tilled ground?

If the plot has not been used for gardening before or in the last say ten years, all you have to do is till it up , lay out the rows and plant. Virgin soil is very productive the first couple of years needing only minimal fertilizer. Spray the area with a good weed killer then wait a couple of weeks and then apply a thin layer of generic fertilizer like 13-13-13 and till.
I would think the first thing to is have the soil tested you can get a lot of Info. from that good luckAnswer by La Vie Boheme
You did out the area, till it if needed. Amend your soil and plant!
