Fuzzy: How do i save old home movies on my computer?
I have never done this before. I am wanting to include some old home movies, on a slide show that I am doing for a friends wedding. The movies I want to include are old home movies that have been transfered from VHS to DVD. Problem is how does one save from the DVD onto their computer. Or does anyone know how I would transfer the home movie from the VHS tape onto my computer. What kind of VCR would I need to use. Thanks for any and all of you help. I really appreciate it a lot.

On Windows you have to buy or install a program to rip DVDs to the PC. Google a search of DVD ripping programs. I am sure there are plenty.
One way of doing this would be to purchase a video capture device that would take input from AVI cables and record it to your computer.Answer by Gregory
Your computer will need a dvd drive then you can right click on that drive and save to option this will give you the option of where you want to save it to then you can do what you want.Answer by Alex N
The first way is to download a free, legal program called handbrake. You cam use it to rip non copywrite protected DVDs and can save them in any format.
The second way is from VCR to pc. There are special cards made (google pinnacle studios). That add plugs to the back of the pc to plug the VCR into. then you play the video while the program that came with the pc card records it. You can then save to whatever format you want.
